What is Dry Cleaning and how the process works 

Dry cleaning is a cleaning process for curtains using a chemical solvent other than water. It is used to clean fabrics that degrade in water, and delicate fabrics that cannot withstand the rough and tumble of a washing machine and clothes dryer.

Despite its name, dry cleaning is not a "dry" process; clothes are soaked in a liquid solvent. Tetrachloroethylene (perchloroethylene), which the industry calls "perc", is the most widely used solvent. Alternative solvents are trichloroethane and petroleum spirits.

Should you dry clean your curtains?

Dry cleaning eliminates deeply embedded pollutants and germs as well as getting rid of stains and color damages. This is recommended for curtains made out of thick materials that may be damaged in normal washing.
